Senior/Managing Consultant Site Investigation & Remediation
Aeterra is a full-service environmental and sustainability consulting firm that provides operating businesses and their owners with meaningful, practical, business-focused advice. Our services include investigation and remediation, transaction advisory and due diligence, ESG and sustainability, and multi-media compliance. Aeterra is seeking motivated and inquisitive candidates based in Boston or Chicago to support projects and existing Aeterra staff throughout the United States. Ideal candidates will have previous experience in the Mergers & Acquisitions consulting space as well as providing first-rate client service.

As a member of the Site Investigation and Remediation group, you will be part of our tight-knit interdisciplinary team and work with all levels of technical expertise. Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and implement investigation scopes of work to assess environmental impacts and meet project objectives.
- Project and task management on investigation and remediation projects, including contracting, budgeting, schedule, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
- Provide cross-functional support, particularly in providing strategic consulting and expertise in evaluating environmental liabilities, comparing remedial alternatives, navigating sites to regulatory, and readily identifying project risk drivers.
- Estimate remedial lifecycle costs associated with contamination in various environmental media (e.g. vapor, sediment, soil, groundwater).
- Provide strategic consulting and expertise regarding emerging contaminants and the evolving regulatory landscape.
- Maintain successful client relations, identify and develop new opportunities, and respond to client inquiries.
- Provide technical training and mentoring to junior staff.
- Prepare, review, and/or manage technical reports, letters, memoranda, proposals, and plans.
- If necessary, conduct and/or oversee field work including multi-media environmental sampling, contractor oversight, remediation system operations, and construction.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in geology or related engineering (civil, environmental, chemical). Advanced degree in the same field preferred.
- Professional certification (P.E., P.G.) or state-specific registration (LSP, LSRP, etc.) preferred.
- 8+ years of direct environmental consulting experience
- Experience in conducting remediation tasks such as remedial investigation, feasibility studies, remedial design, and remedial action under federal (e.g. RCRA, CERCLA) and state-specific regulatory programs.
- Experience identifying and evaluating potentially applicable remediation technologies such as in-situ oxidation, chemical reduction, enhanced bioremediation, and monitored natural attenuation.
- Strong experience with vapor intrusion including investigation activities, remediation, risk evaluation, and regulatory criteria.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly in concisely presenting complex technical information.
- Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while managing deadlines and budgets.
- Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams and proven leadership skills.
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers
- Ability to travel up to 25%. Travel is typically short duration (1-3 days) and may be local or throughout the US, depending on project and administrative needs. Driver’s license and air travel required.
